Well! That was a surprise! I just saw an Adidas advert on TV featuring the completely fantastic track "Peaches" from The Stranglers. Many of you will know that they are probably my all time favourite band and it was that song which turned me on to them in the first place.
Shame they have sold the song to advertise Adidas though. Shame it's such a crappy ad too.
Hmm, now I don't know whether to be glad or pissed off! I hope at least they can buy a few drinks with the money ;-)

Doing my bit to speak out against globalism and the abuse of workers in developing countries:

Ahhh! Easter approaches and it's prolly time I made a new post ;-)
So things are going swimmingly on the flat front. We've finally sold Lotta's flat and the mortgage application is in (should be approved today or tomorrow, don't see any problems with it really). I have a list that's dauntingly long of things I need to get done in the next month. Not least notifying all the various companies I have contact with of my change of address and very importantly getting the DSL line moved over! Imagine having no bandwidth *shiver*.
This weekend is gonna be cool though! It's SAMA, which is a festival of synth music in Sweden. When I say synth music, don't think Jarre or Vangelis, think Depeche Mode or Einsturzende Neubauten or Frontline Assembly! Amongst the bands playing this year are Fad Gadget (UK), Apoptygma Berzerk (Norway) and Hocico (who are a MExican industrial bandd in case you didn't know!). I'm also looking forward to seeing a Swedish bands called Deathstars who were a hard rock band but who now play industrial noise!
There's a pre-SAMA night at one of our favourite clubs, Romo Night, on Friday and then Saturday evening is SAMA itself.
I was hoping to get a lot of things like the first bit of packing (otherwise known as sorting stuff out and throwing things away) and perhaps washing the windows done this weekend, but it looks like it will probably have to wait!

Ah! Nothing quite like a 1km swim followed by a few minutes in the sauna! I feel refreshed ;-) Lunch followed, which was fresh soup from the soup cafe down the road. Excellent place with 3 different soups every day. I've been eating there for the last few months and I've rarely seen the same soup repeated!
I feel quite cosmopolitan ;-)

We went looking at furniture today. Pretty fun! One of the problem with not having a car though is that things like furniture stores are always miles away from anywhere that's easy to get to by public transport. We visited some of the slightly smaller places today and saw more bad taste furniture than we knew existed. I wish I had taken my camera - some of the plastic bed frames we have seen, with inbuilt radios and huge shiny purple shell effects were amazing!
Amongst all the tack, we did find a very good bed shop where we saw a couple of bed frames that we really liked. Some time we'll have to get a lift to Ikea and Mio and take a look at what they have, but at least we've seen a couple of beds that we liked.
The move is starting to feel closer now. Time to organise things like a mortgage and the sale of Lotta's flat! We've still got time, but it's starting to feel close. There is a plan however and I'm sure that everything is gonna fall into place.

Things I never knew #162:
"Eleven years after McDonald's announces that it has started cooking its fries in "100 percent vegetable oil" -- and one month after a Seattle lawyer files suit on behalf of Hindus and vegetarians who interpreted that to mean that the fries are meat-free -- the fast-food chain concedes that the "natural flavoring" in its fries is, in fact, beef fat. "

Cold's on it's way out! Bout frickin' time too. *grumble*
Quick heads-up to Mike - I like the new "desert khaki" colour scheme. No, really! It's very "mod".
I've been pretty productive for the last week or so. I knocked up a set of webpages on my landlord's behalf to advertise the flat. I've also started work on a redesign of Lotta's father's website for his business. He's alwys gone out of his way to help me out with things, so I thought it would be a nice favour to him. I've also been having some ideas for a redesign of Cookstour, though that may take a while!
Work is chugging along nicely at the moment as well. The year seems to be starting off to be better than 2001 was (I hope that's not famous last words!) - there's definitely a sense of optimism coming from our prospects which wasn't there 6 months ago.
On top of all that, I feel spring starting to make some inroads (shhhhh! Don't tell Lotta!) which always puts a smile on my face at least.
Oh well, it'll all be bound to go horribly wrong now I've posted an enthusiastic post! :-D

How do I describe the week that was? Am I allowed to swear on my blog? *looks around* Yup - I can! It has been completely FUCKING awful!
Seriously! My "cold" I had a week or so ago came back with a vengeance. On Sunday we were at Lotta's parents and were both feeling like we had a cold coming on. Monday I was feeling like the cold was starting to bite in and tuesday, although I was still at work, I started to feel really quite rough. Wednesday and thursday were spent moving as little as possible from under the quilt on my sofa.
Lotta hasn't had it any better, poor thing! Like a complete star she managed to drag herself to the chemists on thursday and showed up at my place with a highly appreciated bottle of lemonade. Thank you honey!
Anyway, last night just walking to the bathroom was enough to make me feel so dizzy I would have to sit down again to get my bearings. However I was back at work today and managed to be vaguely productive. Thank goodness it's the weekend so I can hopefully shake the rest of the lurgey!
Oh yeah - you remember my post about the fun things we'd be doing this month? Well we missed the Di Leva concert because we both couldn't stand up, let alone get ourselves to a concert :(
Oh well, that's enough complaining for one week! Back soon with a heppier post (I hope!).

OK, it's not so often I post simple links on this page, but this one is astounding. A new primary colour has been discovered. You can read about it here.
Rest assured I will be incorporating this new colour in the design of Cookstour.org at some point in the future, though it will be done so that it only affects the design for people who have the plug-in installed.
