OK - here's a new addition to my site! (Drumroll)
A webcam! Gasp, amazement!
You can see me in all my glory(?) here though it'll only be while I'm sitting in front of my computer at work for the time being until I can get that fscking company to get in touch with me and give me a DSL connection at home grrrr!
Anyhoo, after years of dithering I'm finally a member of the webcam set. I'm so proud! It only remains to say -
All your webcam are belong to us.

Friday again! Already!
The new site has been live a week and has been received very well so far. We've had a little "tidying up" to do, but there have been no problems to speak of. Probably the most successful site launch I've ever done!
Canal Plus are showing the entire Star Wars series tomorrow evening! Heaven. I'm intendning to camp out in front of the TV, though I doubt I'll sit up until 4.00 am when it finishes. I do however have a large case of good Danish beer though, so anything is possible.
A friend of mine is getting married today - in South America! He left the UK to be with a woman as well (though in his case he went to teach English for a while first and *then* fell in love). Congrats Pete mate! I wish I could be there for the celebrations.

The weekend begins here!
The site launch went perfectly - the celebratory meal at a flash restaurant went even better. Mmmm - VSOP brandy!
Bit hung under today, but a relaxing weekend without a single visit to the office should sort that out ;-)
Have fun!

Woohoo! Site went live today :-)
Some time this evening, the address www.evitbe.com should start to point to http://195.163.131.228/, as DNS replicates itself around the internet.
Then we're officially live :-)
(I'm starting to get reports that some friends in the UK are hitting the site on evitbe.com already :-)

It stopped snowing!
I wish I could write about something more stimulating than snow, but I'm tired and stressed so it's not been easy to get into the pages and extemporise. We have a bunch of projects underway and I'm wearing the hats of both web strategist and project manager right now. It would be fine except that the project managing bits really shouldn't be my responsibility and we've got less than 2 weeks before the website should be launched.
I should get back to work...

It's still snowing :-) It snowed pretty heavily all day yesterday which means that we've now had over a foot of snow. I haven't seen any polar bears yet, but it finally feels like a Swedish winter should feel.

It's snowing! More accurately, it has snowed each of the last 4 days. Pretty cool! On Sunday Lotta and I went sledging in the park, which was great fun. I'd been waiting to do that for the last 3 winters ;-)
I've been pretty slack at updating my blog lately. You can put it down to one of those period where I've been working pretty hard, travelling quite a lot (2 Stockholm vitits in the last 3 weeks) and generally not been terribly interested in extra computer stuff. I got through swings and roundabouts like that. Give it a month or so and I'll be impossible to drag away from the computer again. Sigh!

It's almost weekend! I swam 700m today - shattering my last record of 500m. The chapter I will be technical reviewing arrived yesterday, so that's my weekend pretty much sorted out! Not least I have to work out how to run some Java Server code - pretty much outside my current experience, but I guess I'll be able to figure it out.
Now go and do something useful instead of hanging around here bothering me.

And a busy week it was too! Not only did I get to Stockholm for the meetings we had, I also had a really nice bout of flu! Both at the same time! It was a wonderful journey - 5 hours car ride feeling like death warmed up followed by a day of meetings which I had dosed myself up with British flu medicines to cope with, followed by a 4 hour train journey back again. At least I was able to take Friday off and lie wrapped up in a quilt on the couch all day! Saturday was another haze of fever ridden Zelda playing ;-) By the evening I was starting to feel a little more human again and Lotta came and brought me food. What a sweetie ;-)
Sunday I was back on my feet again. Gothenburg played its normal weather tricks - I woke up to crisp fresh snow which within two hours had been turned into a 3 inch deep slush thanks to the sudden torrential rain. I decided that having not left my flat for 2 days I needed som air and that it might be a good opportunity to buy the lamps my flat has needed. Despite the weather I got some nice lamps and then spent the rest of the day wrestling them into place and debugging them! (No they aren't computerised, but the problem solving to get them to work properly reminded me of debugging).
So here I am, back at work, I've created a lovely calendar based administration system for event performances for the new website. (Think about the problem of creating a way to add performances to an event where one can have everything from one performance at one venue to a tour across many venues or a long event which has performances certain nights of the week at one venue. Or any combination of the above!)
There have been problems with my server - the great guys who run the server (thanks guys!) unfortunately had a complete meltdown of the main boot disk! This meant that a major chunk of the server software has required a reinstall which meant that the server was down for a while and some features of my various sites are still not working. Fortunately, thanks to a herculean effort from the admins, everything is almost back to normal again. Of course if this was a commercial server, I would be hopping mad, but these guys provide probably the best level of service I've ever had - for free! The scene from Wayne's World where they chant "We're not worthy!" springs to mind :-)
